Chiang Rai, the north-east of the country is the last stop before the Thai in Laos and I must say that we could not choose a better . As I observed in these two trips to Thailand, even if there is a city-country is not overrun by tourism, this is precisely Chiang Rai.
Capital of the famous Golden Triangle of opium "(although now things have not changed much), this town has a street life extremely intense and focused mainly in the various day and night markets, which are complemented by the huge market on Saturday evening, a sweet mix of traditions, smells and tastes the Orient, which for once is not concentrated on the usual trinkets to tourists, but rather on having fun and meeting the same premises, that here, as ever, demonstrate a unique kindness and hospitality.
If you ever wanted to teach something Thai people in this world, probably would be limited to the warm, welcoming and sincere smiles. That was enough.
